Wound healing in older oncologic patients

چکیده
The wound itself, along with lymphatic oedema, nausea and vomiting, fatigue psychological stress, is listed as one of the five factors most negatively influencing cancer patients. Current oncologic treatment strategies are based on multimodal protocols including surgery, radiation chemotherapeutic regimens. Thus, in oncology we can have a patient surgical wound, that complication from radio- or chemotherapy, due to progression. With increasing age, skin functions deteriorate quantitative qualitative changes cells. Despite this, it seems healing healthy older patients only delayed, but not completely defective. This effect clinically apparent by age 60 becomes significant at 70. In turn, scar maturation improves comparison young individuals. However, alone more susceptible injury As qualified for complex often, has become matter critical importance.

Impaired wound healing in the elderly represents a major clinical problem that is growing as our population ages. Wound healing is affected by age and by co-morbid conditions, particularly diabetes and obesity. This is particularly important in Rhode Island as the state has a very high percentage of vulnerable older adults. A multi- disciplinary approach that incorporates the skills of a compre...
متن کاملPain and wound healing in surgical patients.
BACKGROUND Human and animal laboratory studies have shown that stress delays healing of standardized punch biopsy wounds. PURPOSE This 5-week prospective study of 17 women who underwent elective gastric bypass surgery addressed the association between postsurgical pain intensity and subsequent healing of a standard 2.0-mm punch biopsy wound. METHODS Participants were assessed 1 week before ...
متن کاملThe molecular biology in wound healing & non-healing wound
The development of molecular biology and other new biotechnologies helps us to recognize the wound healing and non-healing wound of skin in the past 30 years. This review mainly focuses on the molecular biology of many cytokines (including growth factors) and other molecular factors such as extracellular matrix (ECM) on wound healing. The molecular biology in cell movement such as epidermal cel...

Background and objectives: Luteolin (3′,4′,5,7-tetrahydroxy flavone) is one of the most common flavones, which is naturally found in several edible plants and traditional medicine. It is known as a non-toxic compound with anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, anticarcinogenic, antimutagenic, and antiangiogenic properties. Luteolin has antiproliferative activity against different ...
